It’s always a little bit embarrassing when you want to be someone’s friend for no reason other than the fact that she “seems cool,” because what the hell does that even mean? That’s how I was with Nikki Ogunnaike, Senior Fashion Editor at Elle.com, however. She was friends with my friends and I always saw her around at shows and there was just something very…chill about the way she carried herself and how she dressed. Sorry that’s in past-tense because she’s still chill, still carries herself in a way that makes you want to r e l a x and she still, obviously, gets dressed for the damn day.
Which is why, once we passed the post-acquaintance courting stage, I finally reached out about doing a New York Closet.
