Have you heard of the Man Repeller Writers Club? Every month we pose a story idea, you write about it and then send it to us (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the subject line “MR Writers Club.” We go through all submissions and then post the winner on the first Saturday of every month. Ready? Let’s go.
They say all good things come to an end, but what comes after is so much more compelling.
As you know, this month at Man Repeller we’re tipping our hats to the back-to-school mentality invited by crunchy leaves and chilly air, and exploring all our new beginnings. Big ones, small ones, unexpected ones. We want to dig into the part that comes after the end: the fresh start. The part where the guts of our lives are governed not by routine and status quo but by anticipation, fear, novelty. The unknown.
Tell us about a new beginning that sticks out in your mind. Did it feel quiet like a blank page? Exciting like a new love? Thrilling like the moment a roller coaster tips over the peak of its climb? Was it by choice? Was it thrust upon you? Did it make your stomach drop? What had to end to pave the way? Tell us in 500 words or less and send it to email@example.com by 12 PM EST on September 27th.
