Urgent: I should definitely get this top, right? It’s $85.00 and I think may be a temporary solution to my equally temporary button-down fatigue that I’m trying to get over. Also, should I get this? It’s Missoni, $158, but not my normal style. Can’t tell if I’m blinded by the label or by trying to maintain my stance that it’s still summer. To prove that, I’m hitting the “buy” button on these. True to size or go a half-size up?

You told me you already bought my shoes!!! I can’t believe you lied. YOU’RE A LIAR AND A THIEF.

You’re not going to get that bathing suit. I don’t know why you’re even showing it to me. That & Other Stories top, however, gangbusters. I have my eye on this one from Pixie Market and very much feel like we’re on the same page for a change. I feel this could be a good companion for you, too.

In other news, I am actually 100% over summer, which is something I never thought I would say, but I have been drumming up early fall outfits in my head (and iPhone notes) for like a week. So far this is where I’m at:

And this is shearling-accented, so it’s def a fall $taple. These sold out already, can you believe it?

OKAY, so I lied. My intentions were pure and look, they have arrived. (Bless NAP’s fast shipping policy.)

Look at my bunion being a babe.

Here’s something else I think I said I was going to buy last time and recently pulled the trigger, only instead of white, I got navy. I’ll wear this all the way through September and then be glad I have it come spring again.

I LOVE that floral puffy sleeved top so much. Very real question: what do we do when we all get sick of these big sleeves and we’re stuck with a closet full of big sleeve tops? Or worry about that when we get there next season?

Everything you showed me is perfect, actually. This never happens.

Do you know this brand Adriana Iglesias? I am in love with this jacket and bralette and headband. I love these pants — they’re like yellow satin jodhpurs — but know I would never wear them.

Man these are pretty.

Are you able to think about fall shoes yet? I kind of keep trying but don’t think I can. I hate ankle boots. I want to hold off on all boots until the last minute. Oo…you know, I do kind of like these odd mustard Tibi things, though. You got the all-velvet sock ones, right? How will you wear them?

What I’d love for fall is a new blazer to belt. Thoughts on…

This quilted palm tree one? Kind of funky. This ivory one, although I have a lot of ivory blazers (why) and never wear them. This $55 dollar Topshop one has bees all over it…hate the shoulders, though. I’d go for this men’s herringbone tweed one from ASOS but it might be too slim flit?! Here’s the dream one if I ever hit it big.

Blah, just bored myself.

I’m so proud of you! Are they comfortable? Is the toe loop a little bit too small? High up? I feel like it shouldn’t be covering any nail.

Re: everything else, what has happened to you? You’re acting like a real consumer, a contributor to the depleting o-zone layer but even more than that, a veritable print monger. I dare you to buy all of that Adriana Iglesias stuff (any relation to Enrique, do you know?) and wear it together. Headband included.

Not really thinking about fall shoes yet, no. My M.O. for the rest of the summer is to look like a lady of leisure, and be one. Will be wearing some permutation of this henceforth:

Meanwhile, I feel like this is a reasonably-priced bag given how well structured it is.

Meanwhile, you should get this shirt dress to wear under your blazer to cinch with a belt.

I’d basically wear that entire outfit to answer your Tibi boot question from before…and speaking of boots!!! Don’t buy any, I have a gr8888888 pair launching in October. They are black suede and knee high with three patent leather rings around the top colored in red, white and blue like they are tube socks and you? You are Jim’s penis. (This is an American Pie reference in case that wasn’t clear.)

Do you need new clogs?

They are honestly so comfortable. I love them. I have weird toes, don’t talk to me about them. These shoes rule. Great job you cobbler.

I don’t know what has happened to me! I have been feeling RISKY in my fashion inclinations lately. I’m not dressing all that differently but I think I’ve been considering what makes an outfit special on the daily more than I used to, when I was more about rushing to get ready so I could leave and start my day. I think I’ve started to enjoy the process of getting dressed again rather than thinking of it like a morning, and that’s changed how I think about what I want to buy, you know? It’s the difference between buying protein bars because they’re fast and fill you up versus taking the time to make a good egg.

Man Repeller is just one big food metaphor for fashion, huh?

Anyway, I’m back on a dress hunt. I know wedding dressing is all I talk about now but I have one more wedding plus rehearsal dinner to go to. It’s not black tie but it’s not-not fancy, either. Is this one too casual for rehearsal and too spring for end-of-September? It’s very Harling. Ugh, and then this happens: I find something I love IN WHITE. Look at this perfect Anna October dress finally on sale for $315. What about something like this worn as a dress? Belted, nothing underneath?

In boring news, this looks like one of those things I’m gonna be happy exists in my closet — a BASIC if you will. And back to fun shit, I really, really, really need one of these two bags. Which one? All pearl or GREEN FAUX LEOPARD WITH PEARL THAT LOOKS LIKE A MONSTERS INC. CREATURE

Just for fun, just to have.

(P.S.: Yes to the Sandro clogs and what a great green shirt!!! I’m also feeling that tote. The Miu Miu shoes are soooo pretty. They’re painful-looking but sometimes you have to tell your feet to suck it the hell up.)

SPEAKING OF: What do you think you’re going to run around in most during FW?

Heels are on their way back in, don’t you think? We should really round up all the times we’ve said something is “back” and then publish it. I wonder when we’re right and when we’re wrong. Hey, what are going to carry around in your bag made entirely from pearls? (I like that one better than the fur one). I’m also going to disregard every other link you sent me because this

Leandra literally what is that weird post-apocalyptic khaki raincoat thing?

I LOVE THOSE CHANEL boots. Just shot the tan ones for our nightgown story but mango o mango is the red good.

…Do you ever just put a bunch of weird shit in your cart like a kid running rogue through the grocery story without parental supervision? I do, so I’m gonna share it with you. Up to you to decide: WILL YOU BE THE COOL MOM WHO LET’S ME KEEP IT, OR WILL YOU MAKE ME PUT IT BACK?

1) A literal raspberry beret; this could be purchased for $5 on like, Amazon though, right? (Okay, you can find it on Amazon for $8.99.)

I kinda want to wear it with that navy Pixie Market dress I told you I bought earlier.

2) These Prada! Real Monsters
3) This Solid and Striped x STAUD tote (I would use this to death)
4) These Illesteva sunglasses…still having a funny thing about sunglasses right now
5) And do you think these will scratch my Balenciaga knife point toe itch? Or are they expensive enough that I should just get the ones I really want if I’m gonna do it?

I know I’ve been styling a lot of stories with kitten heels, and “real heels are back,” but I think my credit card and I are just now ready to personally take the plunge.

Should have got the light blue tho…

…That was pretty anti-climactic, huh?

Meanwhile, here’s a fun dress.
You’re really not over these yet?

If Man Repeller made product in one fashion category (indepent of the shoes! Which are going to be called Leandra Medine for next fall), what would you wish it was?

Oo, a name change. Chic! I’m really not over those yet. Although, if I were to get black slingbacks, I’d get the Dior ones. Not sure if these Ganni ones do the full trick, although I do keep coming back to them again and again… and at $235 they’re a way better price point.

I wish I were a size 40 because these Prada kitten heels are $90.
These Saint Laurent white leopard ones are 8.5 for $374…
These Louboutins for $387 (size 7.5, sad) are cool, too.
Would you wear these? They’re $40, your size, Moschino, and amazing.

Okay, there are a lot on this website. I’m gonna do some more digging.

You know, maybe I need to re-strategize entirely and focus on vintage. Allow me to leave you with some parting thoughts (I GOTTA WRITE A STORY ABOUT HOW TO SET BOUNDARIES — STAY TUNED)!

This vintage YSL crossbody (YSL circa that Y) is $412 and so chique.
This vintage Dior dress is so beautiful and only $200.
Here’s an Hermes scarf for $176 (kind of a good gift).
There’s a REALLY beautiful Miu Miu coat in a cool purple color for under $400.
And holy shit, SOS: How do I get this vintage pinstriped YSL blazer for $153 shipped to the US?!

I gotta go. This is dangerous.

Vestiaire is so good. Remember when I only used to shop on Yoox? Should I re-open that Pandora’s box? I would start with these pants if they were 50% cheaper.
Ooooh, I wanted these!

In other things I’m buying right now:
Great glass mugs, they’re heat proof!
These great olives to ignite my own aperitivo hour a la Italian coastline, but in the United States.
This because the bathroom has been rough lately
…and I’m going to turn this into a Vetements coat.
Thank you goodnight!

Need to know the verdict re: slim fit-ness of the ASOS Men’s tweed blazer because I am leaning hard into my inner Princess Di rn and that is a necessity

    • Amelia Diamond

me too who’s gonna do it WHO IS GONNA DO IT

  • Hayley

Has anyone purchased that Everlane shirt dress? Wondering how it looks on a tall size 8 gal. Would like to pair it with any assortment of jackets/blazers this fall and leave belted as-is for summer months.

    • Annie

Yes! Love it in black and, surprisingly, khaki. I’m 5’5″ and a 2 or 4, but went up a size for extra parachutey goodness and office-appropriate length. I also like to do the occasional lunge to break up the monotony, though, and seek clothes with the capacity for such movements. YMMV.

    • Leandra Medine

I got it too! I’m a sz 2/4 and belt it with a FANNY PACK and plan to wear it same way + blazer in the fall and also as an open shirt with a sequined thing underneath it and jeans and shit so I would say it’s a superb buy,

      • Hayley

You both have sold me. Thanks!

      • M Sunshine

Please do an article on funny packs?!! Been searching high and low (mostly low) for one that’s just right ala Goldilocks. Actually gf seems the type to use a fanny, no?

        • Leandra Medine

you can make one with a pouch and a scarf !

      • Hayley

Also did you size up or order TTS? I ordered a size up to get some more boxiness/length out of it.

        • Leandra Medine

          yes, got a 4!

  • Alessandra

Amelia, get the Dior slingbacks. They were the best shoe purchase of my life.

i never thought love at first sight existed until i laid eyes on that prada blazer

I love the navy Pixie Market dress but it looks like their stuff runs quite small–any guidance? I have a small waist but a full bust and fear that I may be doomed to button-gaps.

    • Jade-Yue-Ryu

      The eternal struggle.

      • Leandra Medine

I have found most of their stuff to run true-2-size, but err on the side of sizing up if/when I’m after a slightly looser fit.

    • Amelia Diamond

HELLO ok I wore it today, it runs half a size small — I would have been happier sizing up. It’s kinda short so I wish I had more room to take a big step if ya know what I mean

  • Olivia AP

    Loving all, very office apropos

Everything on this thread made me wish I was a millionaire who could afford $500 shoes. It’s good to know that even the stylishly savvy send their friends links with an uneccessary sense of urgency and drama.

Amelia pls buy the Christopher Kane dress so I can live vicariously through you. Also, if MR were to do a line of another kind of item I would want it to be either jackets or jewelry

    • M Rae

      +1 for jackets!!

  • Fereshteh-Faith Oftadeh

Can someone comment on the very real question of what do we do when we all get sick of those big sleeves and are stuck with a closet full of big sleeve tops? …or is this something that maaay surpass potential future aversion??

    • Amelia Diamond

currently, I’m ignoring this potential problem that is most definitely going to happen.

I’m way behind in posting on this thread but, Amelia, looking for inspo for fall wedding (perpetual wedding guest here) and I’m going floral velour robe-y dress here – similar to the nasty gal one you mentioned above. Thinking a block heel because there will be grass involved. Any thoughts? What would you do with the nasty gal kimono?
