Office Apropos: 20 Warm-Weather Outfits We Wore Last Week

Part 1!

Everyone always asks me, “Amelia, do the writers at Man Repeller even wear clothes?” And usually I say no, because I love a little drama. Then I wonder why they asked, so I ask that (ugh, it’s a whole thing). Their typical response has something to do with the fact that writers can write from anywhere, so why wouldn’t we work from home where the air-conditioning flows and the lines for the bathroom are short and nudity is HR-approved? It’s a fair point. However, we do prefer to congregate in an office, and we’re not yet approved to be a nudist colony. So here’s what we wear to work!

Vote us off the island in the comments below and then get stoked for part two of Office Apropos, featuring the other half of our creative wolf pack, which is coming in hot next week.

Leandra’s and Haley’s Monday rocked for me, then Leandra’s Wednesday and Alina’s Thursday were so romantic and finally Harling’s Friday outfits would be my favourites!

    • Leandra Medine

      who is Alina!!!

  • Alice

I love Haley’s outfits so much! However when I try similar things I feel like I look boring, idk what is wrong with my brain.

those santoni sandals were in my tabs for weeks!! they look as good in the wild as i hoped!! if only they would go 99% off. it could happen.

  • Anna Kalmbach

Amelia – Try GITANO vintage cutoffs… I’m a size 28 with large (and in charge) thighs and usually go for a 10 or 12 in these.

  • Kirsten Rasmussen

Amelia I want your summer wardrobe!!!

  • Caitlin Crow

Haley, for what it’s worth, I dug your Thursday outfit. Also, you all looked super gorge on Friday but I was irrationally distracted by/nervous about the fact that you were standing on the NYC sidewalk trap door thingy.

  • Caro A

    This is all vvvvvvvvvv. inspiring

  • Leandra, I loved your Monday look which was on the same wave length of Haley’s Friday look. I am a sucker for cut offs and button downs, there is just something so chic and effortless about it! Also cut offs with heels or cute sneakers make your legs look so good.

Harling, I am so like you. I hone down an item I like, buy it at a discount to even hold on to it a bit longer in case it lowers in price; in order to return and repurchase…Currently, holding on to a wrap jersey Gap dress I bought for $40 hoping it lowers even more!

Amelia, your Thursday look is perfect…again those cut of shorts and button down, you can’t go wrong…

I am still adjusting to the absurd NYC heat, and getting ready in the morning sans AC. This series helps – thanks ladies. Haley feels like my sartorial sibling, and I’m looking to add some extra Leandra (especially this newfound femininity?) to the routine. A+ to you all

I want to live in the film that Hayley looks like the star of in her Friday look.

Loving Leandra and Amelia’s looks monday, Amelia thursday and Haley friday (this outfit in particular is my ideal aesthetic tbh). can’t wear this to my office but taking inspiration for nights and weekends!!

    • rachel

I work at a bank and every time I scroll through one of these I wish I worked somewhere where my favorites of these outfits would be allowed. I’ll keep wearing boring clothes every day of the week if I have to for health insurance though (adulthood!).

  • Harling is Carrie Bradshaw in those red sunglasses and silk blouse

    • Harling Ross

      and u r my hero

  • Kelsey Alyssa

My style falls somewhere between Hayley and Amelia, but Harling wears what my heart wants to wear.

    • Harling Ross

Amelia, urgent: what size did you order in that awesome yellow two piece?

    • Amelia Diamond

I think it was only one size?! Small? It’s super stretchy.

  • Kassie

“I feel like I have a garden, emotionally.” – my work outfit aesthetic. Too bad I don’t have it in me to actually work in my yard.

  • rolaroid

Haley I love your Thursday look even though you don’t!

  • Kathleen FitzPatrick

    Great post, enjoyed it all!

  • Charlotte

Such a great collection of outfits, I love seeing the different styles, it really gives you an understanding of the type of personality each person has! I love showing my personality through my fashion and my Australian jewellery. Great idea for a blog article, keep it up!

  • rachel

Guys you should have heard my sharp intake of breath when I saw this headline. Office apropos is my favorite segment! And Haley I am totally digging Thursday’s pants/shirt combo, though I totally get how pants being too tight can ruin a day. Even though sometimes it makes me feel like an Amy Pohler type mom in mean girls (“I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom”) I have totally succumbed to stretchy jeans and it has made my life so much better. Plus my default outfit (oversize blazer, loose t-shirt, skinny pants, ankle boots) looks even better with the stretchy jeans.

  • Enn Franco

The 1 and 9 ae my favorite! So summery and fresh and of course stylish!

  • Kelly’s Gross-o

The French call the ‘poser-hippy’ look BoBo, meaning BOurgeois BOhemian, and the Marais is teeming with them, and their devil-may-care (but-will-likely-still-succumb-to-emphysema) lifestylez. Apparently it was a thing in the UK a few years back too, as this *viNtaG3~* article from The Guardian testifies:

    The more you know!

  • Trịnh Thanh

I really love the angle that you took with this post

  • Aydan

Amelia I am LOVING your long skirt game! seriously it all is so so gorgeous!! killing it girl! 🙂

  • Amy Mills

Leandra I feel like you’ve returned to your true self in these outfits !! Every one of them looks so good

  • Gigi

What is the deal with I’ve been on the site all morning debating giving up my identity for a deal!

    • Ivana Ivanova

I just put in an order – fingers crossed!!

  • Jillian K

Hayley ! ! All of your outfits made my heart so happy. I beg you, wear those sneakers for all of eternity.

  • first off I love all of the outfits, but I’m dying to know the backdrop of day 1!! I’m a sucker for anywhere with an extensive magazine selection, and I’ll be in NYC next weekend!

  • Ivana Ivanova

Amelia, how long did it take for your RomWe order to arrive?

  • Ella

Haley, do you have any tips for wearing baggy shirts half-unbuttoned without accidentally flashing someone/everyone??

  • Elisaaa

I love this group-outfit-blog format so much. Also it’s 100 degrees in DC so please keep doing these so I can pretend that this terrible city doesn’t despise the concept of nice shorts as work-appropriate clothes

  • Lady Grinning Soul

Harling!!! I have the same cargo skirt!!!
Waited and bought it on sale also 🙂
Though I get the feeling it works better on my without the belt.
Been wearing it non stop since I bought it!

  • Kelly

Leandra, what sunglasses are you wearing on Friday??

  • lillian c.

Haley and I are g-dang style twins, appreciate the boxy over boxy look!

  • Willa Konefał Davis

Haley, I love all of your outfits. I love the way you wear kind of androgynous and unassuming pieces that seen in a vacuum might seem uninteresting but together and on you, look sophisticated & comfy. And I still think you look feminine. You’ve been inspiring me lately to lean more in this direction and I like it a lot.

  • Alli

shook bc Harling’s cargo-skirt outfit looks exactly like something I wore on the reg in middle school. guess I was ahead of the times?? prob had significantly less cool sunglasses tho
