Introducing MR Summer Sleepaway Camp!!!

Wake up to bugle music with Team MR

Camp Man Repeller Announcement Feature 2

If there’s one thing literally everyone can agree on, it’s that none of us are having enough sleepovers with friends we met on the Internet.

This summer, all of that changes.

Located in the Southern Adirondacks hamlet of Warrensburg, NY, Camp Man Repeller will bring you, me and the crew together for what I’m going to go ahead and call THE BEST WEEKEND OF OUR LIVES. Don’t even bother scrolling to find the answer to your most important question because I’m going to drop it here first: Yes, there will be s’mores.

In addition to creating lifelong friendships and finally living out your dreams of reenacting the talent-show scene from every single camp movie ever–

Camp Man Repeller will offer the following:

– Yoga and meditation
– Campfires, a scent memory that will stick to your clothes and hair for the entirety of the summer
– Arts and crafts (like we’d let you leave without an armful of friendship bracelets)
– Paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing
– Swimming
– Rock climbing
– A ropes course
– Nature hikes
– Tennis, basketball, baseball
– Ga-Ga (it’s like dodgeball, trust us)
– Dancing and
– Yeah. A talent show.

Are you so excited or WHAT? Same. You must have a lot of non-marshmallow questions though, like, “Do I have to be 21?,” and the answer is yes, because there will be booze. You probably also want to know the dates: Friday, June 2nd to Sunday, June 4th.

All other answers to your questions (like those about price, transportation and food) can be found here. <– YOU SIGN UP THROUGH THE SAME LINK, TOO.

As for whether or not you’ll meet your long-lost, separated-at-birth identical twin with a different accent than you…

The answer is…maybe! Camp Man Repeller is nothing if not a sisterhood.

OMG if my husband gets a job soon I am all over this. I have always wanted the adult summer camp experience but most of them are $500+ for a weekend. Huge kudos to you for keeping this so affordable!

    • Kate Barnett

Thank you for saying that — we tried really hard! I hope you can make it!

  • Hilary

Basically weeping because this sounds like a) THE BEST THING EVER, and b) I already have a v. important family event that weekend which means I can’t go. WHYYYYYYYY.

Which leads me to: c) please tell me this will happen again someday !!!! :'(

  • Linda

I am IN!!!!! Anyone wants to share a car ride up there????

    • snakehissken

I will be driving up! I live in Jersey, but I’m happy to take people!

      • Linda

Yeeeaaaas!!!! I think it will be me and a friend 🙂 haha that’s so awesome!

      • Sarah

hey! this is super late but i’ve been planning how to get to camp and was reading through comments when I saw yours– are you still driving from nj/open to carpooling?

        • snakehissken

Actually I decided not to drive. I’m going to NJ Transit it into the city, then take the Greyhound to Albany ($20 each way) and grab the shuttle across town at Albany airport. You are still welcome to be my travel companion if you like, though.

          • Sarah

Oh wow that’s so smart! I was planning to take the bus all the way to Warrensburg, but that’s much simpler (and cheaper). How are you getting from the bus terminal to the airport? Uber?

          • Sarah

Ah, never mind– I see there’s a transfer to a bus goes directly to the airport.

    • Jasmin Aujla

Hey! We’ll be connecting everyone that signs up for camp to arrange carpools if you’re interested, stay tuned for an email from us about that 🙂 So excited!!

      • Linda

That’s amazing! Thank you ladies 🙂 I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

  • Bee

This is my dream come true. Oh my god, I wish so bad that I could make it. Crying.

  • Molly D

    oh my god

  • Patty Carnevale

  • Hello does anyone from Minneapolis wanna go with with me? I am kind of kidding but kind of not.

Also in general are there any other MR fans hailing from MSP? Anyone? Bueller?

    • snakehissken

I’ve been watching a lot of Mary Tyler Moore and I really feel I’m spiritually from MSP if that helps

      • It DOES help, tysm for sharing. We’re essentially kindred spirits.

        • snakehissken

If you come I can scoop you from Newark airport, I’m going to pass it on my way 🙂

    • Lara

I’ll be making the trip from Chicago!!

    • Kirsten Rasmussen

I’m from St. Paul! Kind of sort of interested as well…

    • Stephanie

  • Julissa

  • Andrea Raymer

I miss summer camp so much and this is the best kind of camp! I can’t wait to make friendship bracelets with all of you!!

    • Jasmin Aujla

  • Charlotte

This is everything I wanted since the day my twin sister and I watched It Takes Two and Parent Trap in a row! Combined with MR and I have can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars, over the fence, world series kind of stuff feelings!
Too bad I live closer to Annie than to Hallie… and as long as grandpa Charles can’t “chip in” I cannot go :(. However, I love that you made Camp Man Repeller reasonably priced! Just the plane ticket is too much… (would be completely worth it though). Hope you all have an amazing time. Jealous!

  • Jill

So EXCITED! My friend just bought our tickets under her email… Can I add my email to the list anywhere to get the updates?

    • Jasmin Aujla

Hi Jill – yes we’ll be reaching out to everyone who purchased more than 1 ticket to get details of everyone in their party, so you’ll be hearing from us soon. Can’t wait to meet you!

  • Lauren

Ahhhh so bummed that this is the same weekend as Governor’s Ball! Add another at the end of the summer! 🙂

  • done and done zeeeeya in june!

  • Rosie Ruth

Bummed this is so far away 🙁
Can we make one for England pls xox

  • makspiller

  • Paola

OMG I so wanna come but I live in London 🙁

  • NOOOO this literally the one weekend this entire summer I can’t make!! please do this again :'( :'( :'(

    • Alex S

Same 🙁 Plus it’s such a short drive from my hometown of Montreal, I already have FOMO.

      • Fred Sahai

I’m from Montreal too but sadly under 21 🙁

  • Ciara Sophia Rudas

I am bummed because I turn 21 shortly after this fun weekend ;(

  • EP

Hi I’m going Debbie Downpour all of your parade. Brands, websites, publications, etc. are so into infantalizing women right now while also trying to capitalize on feminism. It is a bizarre contradiction. I see this as more of that.

    • Suzan

I hear what you’re saying, but I don’t think this is in line with that. This goes wayyy beyond that, in a good way.

    • snakehissken

A few different startups (and MR is a startup imo) have run these types of throwback sleepaway camp events. My friend works for WeWork and she invites me to theirs every year, but it costs way more than this one. I think it has more to do with nostalgia for an experience that some people might not have gotten and an opportunity to meet new people in a setting that encourages bonding instead of running back home to binge Netflix in bed after a little while.

  • Dani Heifetz
  • Suzan

What a super cool initiative! I live in Europe, so can’t attend unfortunately, but I think it sounds like heaps of fun and a very cool next step for the MR community!

  • SpiritAndCourage

Do you think my brother would be upset with me for missing his wedding because I am at an adult sleep away camp with complete (albeit wonderful) strangers? Because I’m thinking of risking it…

  • little fang

Omfg do any other lil Canadians from the Montreal region into doing this thing??

    • Kayla Atkey

I’m from AB and signed up!

      • little fang

        And I met you!

        • Kayla Atkey

          haha ya you did!

  • mariahg

Wish there had been more of a heads-up about this event! Could have attended if this had been announced earlier in the year 🙁 Super jelly of everyone who gets to go! Have a great time!

  • Kayla Atkey

I signed up all the way from Canada haha and it might be easier to get a flight to New York. Is there anyone organizing carpooling for this?

    • Kate Barnett

there are!! and we’ll be reaching out to everyone who registers to help orchestrate carpools

      • Kayla Atkey

        Perfect – thank you!

  • Samantha Lee

CRYING because I desperately wish I could go to this! Have my cousin’s wedding to go to instead… 🙁

  • Payton

Okay, how vital is the 21 portion of the requirements? I’m a great conversationalist with a nice glass of ice water.

    • Fred Sahai

  • Stephanie

    Oh shit. Just signed up!

  • Fred Sahai

Hey! I think this is great and totally understand the over 21 thing but I think it would be really cool if in the future you could maybe organize community events for the teenage MR readers. I for one would love to meet other like-minded cool girls who share a love of MR. :))))

    • Abigail

  • Claire Hannah

I’m dying to join! Anyone else coming alone?! I feel weird but also really wanna join

    • Stephanie

I’m coming alone! I signed up and then immediately worried I wouldn’t make any camp friends, just like it’s 1998 🙂

    • Molly D

I’m coming alone and already praying someone will call me in Red Rover

    • lily

I’m coming alone! We can all be friends!

    • redblueherpderp

      I’m going!! You should go!

    • Sarah

Joining in to say I’m coming alone! Nervous but very excited!

  • Emily Michaelis

can you pick your counselor though???

  • Nicole

    no boys allowed, classic

  • Nicole

    also: no LEandra?? 😨😨☹ī¸

  • Marita Hunt

IF ONLY … it seems a little bit excessive to travel half way across the world for this but I am tempted!

  • Andy

dayum this looks amazing! if only i didn’t live in australia 🙁

  • starryhye

DUDE! That looks like so much fun!

  • elpug

Oh my gosh!!!!!! I would die of happiness, sadly I don’t end school for about 5 days after this. WOWOW.

  • lily

  • Victoria

  • Chrissie Reitmeyer

LOVE that you guys are doing this and hope I can make it to a future event. Super super cool <3

  • I saw and waited. And now I can’t come and it’s totally ruined my day. I even put off my 1 year dating anniversary because I was planning on being here 🙁

  • redblueherpderp

Is anyone coming to this from the Amtrak station in Glens Falls?? OR can I take the Amtrak to Albany and hitch a ride with someone?
