Oh Boy Episode 41: Meika Hollender

Jay Buim talks to the co-founder of Sustain, a sustainable condom company

In partnership with The Real Real.

Most kids I know avoid talking about sex with their parents at all costs. Sustain co-founder Meika Hollender, not so much. Sustain is the first brand of vagina-friendly all-natural condoms, lubricants and wipes, and Meika works on the business with her father, who co-founded the natural product brand Seventh Generation. The topic was broached while Meika was in business school and her dad started to talk about condoms that he wanted to make.

The goal of the company is to break the stigma of women buying and carrying condoms — and also just having sex. Pretty cool, right?

Want to know more about Meika (who is also the creator of GetOnTop, a national campaign aimed at getting women to take control of their sexual health) and how she ended up where she is? You’ve come to the right place. Podcast time! Headphones in.

Jay, do you not do like any research for these interviews!? Haha, I loved that reaction you had to learning her dad founded 7th Generation! This was nice.

Great brand and she is obviously very intelligent. Most of her success seems to come from being born from the right father. How do you translate that to other readers who aren’t in a situation where Dad set them up and then funded their business? I feel like this podcast could be uninspiring for most people because not many can relate.

Humble and intelligent = I like this girl! Keep up the good work y’all.
