In Partnership With
MR x Chanel Presents: Saving Face

Watch it now!

In partnership with Chanel Solution 10.

You know when you’re having a really rough day/week/month/hour and the last thing you want to deal with is a doctor appointment, inconveniently situated right now, today, on the opposite side of town relative to where you need to be and what you need to do? You feel rushed, you’re frustrated, you’re probably tired and as much as you know that consulting a doctor is probably exactly what you need, you think you know better.

Only you don’t! So, no matter the genre of doctor, you suck it up, you go, and once you arrive you remember that it is never as bad — being at the doctor — as you think it’s going to be once you’re actually there. You’re a complex individual, of course, so, again, no matter the genre of doctor, you sort of turn the appointment into a therapy session. The physician asks how you’re doing and like a can of beans that has runneth over and cannot be stopped from spilling, you talk. And talk. And talk. You’re mad at your mom, you’re overwhelmed at work. Your skin is breaking out. Your best friend won’t talk to you. And then, like an angel from the heavens (or a happy lamp from Amazon), a beam of wisdom shines upon you. Sometimes it is simply words, other times, a doctor-approved remedy. And just like that, the worst day on earth has become the best.

Which is exactly what this video, shot in partnership with Chanel, sets out to illustrate.

We partnered with Chanel to support a sensitive skincare product the brand launched last year called Solution 10 (aptly named to reflect the only ten ingredients in the product) because, frankly, we are suckers for anything simple that works (just like, uh, talk therapy!). The formula was developed with renowned dermatologist and psychiatrist, Dr. Amy Wechsler (or as I like to call her, the light of my life) — another profound selling point because, you know, the humdrum of a rough day really can be stopped short by “just what the doctor ordered.” Sometimes, it’s a moisturizer for stressed-out skin that is on the brink of burn out and thus very sensitive, other times it’s for a mind in the same boat. If you are lucky, the solution responds to both.

So, sit back, have a laugh, indulge and if you’re looking for a pro-tip, I recommend you leave a bottle in your bag and lather it on midday. It’s like a snappy, indulgent spa treatment at your desk. Ditto that for wine and chocolate on a treadmill.

Special thanks to star guest Dr. Wechsler, director and producer Jay Buim and his team, makeup artist Fulvia Farolfi, and Breather for the beautiful space!

  • Alice

    omg that was amazing

  • Imaiya Ravichandran

leandra has crazy good comedic timing. i’d say stand-up comedy would be a good career fallback in case man repeller goes kaput (which it won’t!! good vibes only!!). although i can also deff see you gently tending to a field of corn.

  • Serena

I love this so much. So much! I may actually buy it just because this video is A+

  • Selena Delgado

These need to be televised. Well done.

  • Antoinette

I have a garden and I never look that sexy while tending to my veggies Leandra! After a tough day, this was refreshing!

  • when i watched this a second time and realized that the calculator says ‘BOOBIES’ upside down, my heart and my funny bone both exploded

  • Kelly’s Gross-o

Though this is hilarious, I wish it wasn’t an advertisement! I give kudos for clearly stating that it is, but I still worry about product placement and what that means for the MR ethos.

Anyway, maybe I just need to learn to let go and trust the judgement of my longterm blogfriend. Our LTR is going strong after all.

    • Pandora Sykes

Think of it as the equivalent of magazine advertisements. So, magazines cannot afford to stay afloat as a business without ads; Man Repeller can’t run as a digital company without brand partnerships. And thankfully, they are well chosen supa-cool brands 🙂

  • Pandora Sykes

This is hilarious. Really REALLY good example of a sponsored partnership.

  • Sonia

This is amazing! That fire extinguisher scene is the best.

Also D-D-D-DYING to know who makes that bracelet/cuff/thumb thinga-majigger! Anyone? Anyone? Leandra? Bueller?

    • Mandeep

its called the Bond bracelet by Charlotte Chesais I think – available for pre-order on Moda Operandi

      • Leandra Medine

        Indeed, thank you Mandeep!

        • Mandeep

I’ve been lusting over this bracelet for years … had I actually accomplished putting money aside I would have been the owner of more than one …

  • that was fun and also made me want to buy the cream that would solve all my earthly problems. and dude she’s a dermatologist AND a psychiatrist whoa except it totally makes sense?

Also where is that striped green shirt from? Is it a pajama top I hope it’s a pajama top.

    • Leandra Medine

It’s from a small lingerie brand called Morgan Lane. The top is from a cool-ab (like a collab, but cooler) they did

      • Lena

Hi Leandra, can you donate your green morgan lane pj shirt to me once you get bored of it? I love it to death but have got student loans to pay. K thanks! xoxo

  • garliclovers

where is that wonderful scarf from!?

    • Leandra Medine

It’s not a scarf! It’s a sweater (…by Chanel. I gripped it for dear life before I had to give it back)

      • garliclovers

        STILL dreaming about it

  • Grace B

Omg this was great. Loved the high fiving, loved the “baby” Leandra, and that $$ cream!!

  • Claire Banks

I am beaming with happiness after watching this video (so thank you for that)! Also kudos to creating sponsored content that doesn’t actually feel advertise-y… love.

  • Allegra

Quite hilarious video and most of all, very nicely produced, and I would really appreciate seeing the actual ingredient list for the product. I didn’t seem to find it even on the Chanel site (it lists “soft powder” etc, but I would need the actual compounds considering the second one listed, squalene, already can be a clogging ingredient for acne skin). In general, it always bugs me when brands are not up front with their ingredient lists, and especially when the product in question is marketed to already problematic (here, sensitive) skin.

    • Leandra Medine

all the ingredients are actually on the bottle!

  • Kayla Tarynn Viteri

    This was AMAZING

  • Lisa

lol Leandra’s face when putting out that fire followed by “all people think i do is alternative pushups for social media” 😀

  • Kari Guastella

is it just me or does Leandra’s hair look absolutely stunning!!

    • cicillionaire

It’s so freaking shiny. And the exact right silky smooth weight, that’s gotta be vitamins and shit.

      • Leandra Medine

It was pregnancy (but I guess also bumble and bumble shampoo x frizz ease serum)

    • Telleapp
