Should I Buy This? An Email Correspondence.

Excuse me credit card, I wasn’t asking *you*

I know these are excessive and much more expensive than they should be but I am all about using clothes to make myself feel better right now. So…I’m not gonna ask if I should buy these, but for a second, let’s pretend the Internet is my closet. What should I wear these with!

(And actually, in all honesty, should I get these?)

The amount of time I just spent looking for a hypothetical shirt that you would wear with your hypothetical pants is embarrassing but even worse is that I couldn’t decide on one. Is the move to go with the weird and get weirder, or cut off the novelty at your belly button and lock that shit up with a crisp white oxford?

If you were going to wear them in real life in the winter you’d probably be cold so here’s a pair of $10 sparkle tights to peak through the hearts.

Get those shoes. They’re so librarian literal, but your freak ass would probably wear them with something so off the wall they’d be doing parkour, which would make them cool. I have to say I like this heel height better than the tall ones.

In other news … at Trademark! The trench.

You should get this striped turtleneck, and I’m literally hitting “buy” on this shirt right now to have in time for fashion week.

I need some clothes to make myself feel better about the shitty-ass weather, too.

Yeahhhh, the thing I like about the Gucci shoes is that they are so normal. I don’t actually know that I own any normal shoes. In my head I see baggy jeans and a turtleneck worn under a button down with a thick cardigan layered over, but see, then am I being too librarian literal? I might be trying too hard to look eccentric.

Normcore is dead! Navy is dead! Black is dead!

That Trademark turtleneck, however, fantastic. Important. Necessary. Sign me up. Will look great under aforementioned cardigan-partigan, or is it cardi-party?

The trench coat is very Amelia in the same way that Franca Sozzani is very Franca. I don’t think you should get it because you’re going to wear it too literally. Here are two things I do think you could benefit from owning.

1. These shoes with pom poms. I actually think they will look kind of cool worn with camp socks and jeans that are naturally ripped at the jeans. Emphasis on the natural.
2. This off-the-shoulder poplin top. Which you could layer with a black turtleneck underneath it when it’s still as cold as frozen sperm!

Meanwhile, on my person, I never knew I needed a ruffle-top body suit.

So fine, no trench. (Maybe.) That cardigan is great. You should get it. I think the baggy jeans thing would obliterate any literal librarian thing that could otherwise happen.

Speaking of party Leandra, those pom pom Aquazzura shoes are the prettiest things in the whole wide world. THOSE are the kinds of shoes that will lift us out of winter doldrums. (So is that Obando body suit, hello handsome!)

Q: When you see jacquard pants like these, do you immediately think of that scene in Save the Last Dance when Julia Stiles says to Kerry Washington, “Cool outfit,”and then Kerry Washington goes, “Slammin’. Slammin’ outfit”? I do.

Btw, Moda’s whole sale is amazing right now. I really want this Suno skirt, I think this jacket would be great for you, ta ta tassel queen, and am serious: is it worth it to fake the wrong shoe size (40, I’m an 8) to get these Loewe boots?

Or should I just get these Marni ones that are under $300? I love them less but I’d still date them.

On Thu, Jan 28, 2016 at 2:17 PM, Leandra Medine wrote:

Amelia! Those Loewe boots! I have been looking for them since I was born. Also that Stella jacket is awesome but still so expensive, no? Don’t get the Marnis just because they’re cheap. They’ll end up being a much more expensive indulgence (not investment) because you won’t end up wearing them.

Plus! This is about escapist clothing, so why not instead consider these earrings? They’re leather.

Or theeeeese shoes (camp socks?). Think you can actually find them on sale.

Yup, you can, here you go.

And can I also say something, woman to volleyball coach? I think bermuda shorts are very much coming back. I want these cashmere ones by The Row, for example, and am pretty sure I would buy these as well.

Hold up. Those are capris! Capris are back!

“They end up being a much more expensive indulgence (not investment) because you don’t end up wearing them” — that is so real.

Leandra, I don’t think I can wear a Bermuda short. Or Bermuda shorts, plural. They bring back weird memories, ditto capris. Are capris going to feel ok?! I think the last time they felt okay I was wearing those tattoo chokers that the kids are wearing again.

Remember when you said rainbows were having the best day ever? This confirms.

And if we’re talking escapism then I want this stupid expensive Gucci sweater, but I also want rent and stuff. I also hate the zippers on it, which makes me feel better. I hate zippers.

When I can’t afford the escapism that I really want, I turn to bras:

(PS, that Stella McCartney one goes up to an E cup. I’m about to send it to all my C+ and up friends)

Final sidepiece: bombers are having a thing too, for sure, but I cannot get on board.

Now we talking! That Gucci sweater is both sunshine on a rainy day and frozen yogurt on a sunny day.

I don’t care at all about bras but maybe I should change that — that’s a decadent investment, totally the kind of thing that could make you feel better when the weather is fucking with your mind.

Re: bombers, I got this one. I’m waiting for it to come.

…Just kidding. But I do think I’ll get one.

Oh! Btw: these.

On Thu, Jan 28, 2016 at 3:56 PM, Amelia Diamond wrote:

Oh. my. god. Those. Dries Van Noten shoes. What is wrong with that man that everything he makes is good?

I kind of like this bomber. It’s the first one that I’ve seen that I’ve been like, “Yeah.”

You should get into bras! They make a big ass sweater feel like it’s hiding a cool secret beside your third nip.

I’m also really frustrated that I still haven’t found the coat. Yes/no to this one?

Maybe coats are like love and if you have to ask, then you’ll never know.

I want this so I can just say peace out to winter.

What I wish I could find is the ONE thing that would be the only thing that I would have to buy to make my whole closet feel okay for the rest of February, March and the cold part of April. Do you have that one thing?

I think wrap tops are having a moment. I also want a DVF wrap dress.

Here’s the rest of my feel-good-while-cold list:

This robe.
This dress.
And this dress (obviously I would snap it open and closed at my behest).
This earring.
And this dress.

Things I actually might buy.

IDK what is more weird, that you want a baseball mit or that you want a wrap dress. Probably the latter. The things in between lead me to believe that you have something up your baggy ass wizard sleeve.

You know what I really want? Besides literally everything Dolce?

These Tabitha Simmons platforms. They look super comfortable, they’ll make me dream of summer, and per the favorite adjective of moms everywhere, they are “so fun!”

That’s the point of all of this, right?

I am getting a salary of 5700 dollars each week. Over a year ago I was in a horrible condition , jobless and no bank credit . Thanks to one of my friends who showed me a way where I was able to gather myself and making average of 56 d/h. So it can change your life as it has changed mine.

  • Those dries shoes give me heart palpitations and this convo reminds me that I have no friends :/

Guys, you are the best, this cracks me up everytime…
Leandra, you do own at least a pair of normal shoes, the Chanel slingbacks. Even if all of a sudden super-bloggers and editors alike started wearing them like they are the hottest new thing, they are actually shoes that any normal woman (with the money to afford them) owns and would wear (and I get the whole “let’s wear it with cropped flares” thing. Still regular shoes. The Gucci are already a bit ironic IMO, thus less “normal”).
Also I am.pretty sure those heart jeans are a subliminal effect of winter blues coupled with Valentines Day commercial bombing. Resist until February 15th and I guarantee they will have lost half of their appeal (you still need the ruffle bodysuit though).
And I totally agree with Amelia that those pom-pom heels are the prettiest thing ever. They would be perfect if it weren’t for the stiletto heel. Oh and I needed that Gucci embroidered sweater until I saw the big bees on the back. Those are freaking big bees to sport.

I wish the silver bomber wasn’t I joke. I really hope you purchased it.

Those Dries shoes. The fabric is so cool IRL.

Ugh, I had this struggle yesterday (my only fashion friend no where to be seen). Over Ganni leather trousers in Juniper… I bought them. Probably the most ridiculous thing I have bought in a while. But I couldn’t walk away!!!

Those Rochas Crystal Embellished Leather slip ons with an off the shoulder floral top and high waisted acid wash jeans ???? where my mind went.
