The fashion industry had our version of the Oscars last night at the 2014 Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala. Leandra kept asking why it was not yet being called the “Anna Wintour Costume Center Ball,” to which I kept repeatedly adding, “For People Who Dress Good.” Michelle Obama was nonplussed with the joke.
Hopefully you are.
But if you’re not, the dresses surely impressed, even despite the fact that “PUNK: Chaos to Couture” was quite an act to follow in regards to red carpet theme. This year’s attendees dressed the opposite of stylish anarchists, however, and instead fell in line with the aesthetic of the Met’s new exhibit on couturier Charles James.
Except for the streaker.
Once you’re able to avert your eyes from this be-loafered rebel’s bright pink package, kindly find your way to the slideshow of our favorite looks above and let us know who you think wins Best Dressed at the Anna Wintour Costume Center Ball for People Who Dress Good. Or, as Leandra also kept calling it because she’s a taco-head: The Guggenheim Ball. (Don’t lie, Michelle. You smirked at that one.)
