NY Closets: Simone Nemirovsky

  • Monday: My days vary with work so each week is different depending on the event schedule. This week was jammed with client meetings, interviews and, of course, stopping by the farmer’s market. These re-worked vintage Wranglers from The Vintage Twin are so comfortable and easy to dress up or down. I don’t get to wear a lot of jewelry in the kitchen so whenever I get the chance I accessorize! I am true to a few of my favorite brands and Lizzie Fortunato along with Gentle Monster are two of my favorites!

  • Tuesday: On my way to the city for a client meeting. I love a sexy shoe to dress up any outfit when I get the chance. These blazing red Aquazzura are my absolute favorite stiletto. Paring them down with a band T-shirt and '70s-inspired Audrey Wang jeans are one of my favorite ways to enjoy them. Tacking on my leather-and-pearl choker by Mizuki brings the whole outfit together.

  • Wednesday: Stopping by the kitchen in Red Hook before I meet a friend for lunch. I’m obsessed with anything blue-and-white striped. I’d say about half my summer wardrobe focuses on varying stripes. It was actually hard not to pick five identical outfits! This is one of my favorite looks. I found this amazing Voler long-sleeve from Frankie (one of the greatest boutiques in the LES) that I seem to wear once a week. It’s loose, has pockets -- which is one of my favorite features on any article of clothing -– and is super comfortable. I’m really into the ‘off the shoulder thing’ that’s happening right now. My No. 6 are the best pair of shoes I’ve ever bought. They go with everything from shorts to jeans to dresses. I’m a sucker for a good clog.

  • Thursday: On my way to the city for an interview and then to dinner. I love this outfit as it’s so fun to dress up with a heel or dress down with a flat. I bought this hat by Janessa Leone last summer and look for every excuse to wear it. I’m a huge fan of Rachel Comey and continue to add her wide-leg pants and jeans to my growing collection. This outfit is so simple and comfortable and can be transformed from day to night with the right accessorizes.

  • Friday: I love wearing dresses with shorts. It’s so underrated! My mother has an unbelievable eye and has been designing clothes for years. This outfit is one of hers. It’s a reversible linen dress with matching shorts. Super light and airy and perfect on a hot day. It’s versatile, great with a pump or flat, and the print makes it so fun!

  • Saturday: This is my favorite article of clothing currently in my closet. I’m on my way to brunch in Cobble Hill but have also worn this to dinner, a bridal shower, a party, and casually hanging out with friends. It has a hint of 1950s inspiration, this great open back and (you got it) POCKETS! If I want to dress it up, I’ll pull my hair back and throw on a pair of fun earrings like the Lizzie Fortunato ones I’m wearing. As I love stripes, I’m also pairing this look with these funky Gentle Monster sunnies.

  • Sunday: On my way to the farmer’s market to pick up some great treats for dinner as we’re having some friends over. I go to the market a lot during the week for work but today is for pleasure. I tend to live in this maxi dress during the week as it feels more like a robe then anything. I always wear it with my Capri Positano sandals and Chloé bag. It’s turned into my Sunday uniform which I’m more than fine with! My fiancé doesn’t seem to mind either.

Simone Nemirovsky is a chef and founder of Table BK, a boutique Brooklyn-based catering company, but her prior career in merchandising for Anthropologie and One King’s Lane means that her good taste extends beyond the kitchen. (Warning: looking through this insanely beautiful gallery of food she has prepared will make you hungry almost instantly.)

She has a knack for always looking both dressed-up and laid-back. If you think this is impossible by definition, I challenge you to click through the above slideshow. We asked her to document of week of what she wore and, in so doing, she proved that looking put together and being comfortable are not the least bit mutually exclusive. A perfect lesson for all of us as we scoot into fall.

She definitely “has a knack for always looking both dressed-up and laid-back.” I really love her style and that she wears clothes that her mother has designed!

  • Mariana

I love her outfits, I could see myself wearing all of it! They are stylish, comfortable and cool and remind me of scandinavian style, which I love.

  • I am loving these outfits, Where can I purchase the outfit?
