Just in time for your last minute 2013 party dressing and preemptive wardrobe planning for the year 2014, Oscar de la Renta’s second exclusive collection for The Outnet is set to land online today (and also in my parent’s inboxes by way my highly subtle Wish List emails).

The ready-to-wear assemblage will include 12 pieces from Resort in polka dots and stripes (sans sand), and also holiday staples in brocade, silk and tweed. True to form it’s sure to reference a variety of classic OdlR silhouettes.

Miroslava Duma, face behind the launch, says in the clip below below that the clothes Mr. de la Renta creates are investments that will last a lifetime. She traces her first experience with Oscar back to her mother, and cites the styles of American first ladies Nancy Reagan and Jackie Kennedy .

But that isn’t to say the clothes feel retro or stuffy — far from it. The ikat prints and bright colors add a touch of youth to the timeless brand, while the feminine shapes and luxe fabrics remain absolutely, undeniably Oscar.

That first floral print dress was stunning. I am so obsessed with Miroslava Duma it’s not even real. She used to (maybe still does, I hope) do these videos before fashion week where she took you into her closet and showed the outfits she was planning on wearing to the shows. That closet is what dreams are made of.
