For one, she has a swing for angels in her home.
In last week’s episode of The Chatroom, Leandra sat down with an anonymous person by the name of Gwyneth Paltrow to discuss health, womanhood, motherhood and Doritos. Four things that, after watching, you’ll understand can and should exist in perfect harmony. Paltrow also just launched Goop’s first perfume, edition 01 – Winter 2016, which maybe you should check out if smelling like Gwyneth sitting next to a wood-burning fireplace dusted with cinnamon is on your to-do list.
Below, five new things we learned about her.
When she wears high-waisted pants, her boyfriend calls them “man repellers.”
We would tell you if we wrote this in our diaries last week, but that’s private.
After telling us all about the importance of transparency in Goop products, particularly with edition 01 (she said most companies hide thousands of potentially harmful ingredients behind the word “fragrance”), and the benefits of clean eating, Leandra hit her with a hard Q:
Leandra: Do you drink a lot?
Gwyneth (immediately): Yes, I do.
Leandra: But you have such good skin!
Gwyneth: Because of my products! I swear by them I’m not kidding!
Leandra: Wait this is such great news. You can drink a lot and still look like Gwyneth Paltrow.
Gwyneth: I try to eat organic food when I can and eat local food when I can and eat as little processed food as possible, but sometimes you just need a bag of Doritos and a beer at an airport.
She is okay with pressing peoples’ buttons.
Paltrow knows she pushes buttons, and that’s not always by accident. “We are trying specifically to ask questions, move culture forward, introduce topics…and we press buttons!” she said. “Sometimes we do it intentionally.”
She cites her piece on Conscious Uncoupling as a good example. “I wanted to sort of say, ‘Hey, we learned a really amazing way of doing this and our children are kind of unscathed,’ and the reaction was so bananas,” Paltrow says. And now, two years later, no one is joking about it. It’s a thing!
“For me, that arc is very important to keep in mind,” she says.
All she ate when she was pregnant with her first child was grilled Swiss cheese sandwiches, French fries, Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream from Baskin Robbins, yogurt and apples.
Everything else made her sick.
She wants all of us to be the most integrated versions of ourselves.
“Just be you. Just be the most integrated version of yourself possible and you’re kind of fine. I wish I hadn’t learned that past 40. I wish I had known that when I was 12 or 26 or whatever. I had no concept. I was constantly trying to be what I thought I was supposed to be or fulfill someone else’s idea of who I was supposed to be. And it’s the same for starting a business. A lot of it is just self-belief.”
Thank you for that hugs via words, Gwyneth Paltrow. Watch the whole video here.
