Remember that show, The Swan? For the uninitiated, The Swan was a reality television show that aired in 2004 and followed the reconstructive surgeries of various “ugly ducklings” (don’t even get me started on the plot line, this anecdote has a point) who were in the process of metamorphosing into “swans.”
Now, I’m not trying to say that Man Repeller was an ugly duckling but I am suggesting that we’re looking a bit more swan-like than we did yesterday. So, welcome! Welcome! Welcome! This is the new Man Repeller. It’s hip, it’s with it, it’s going to support way more content for your reading pleasure and hopefully deliver double the giggles, double the tears, double the gifs, double the fun.
And with that, a few new features to note:
First, you’ll notice the sweet ass carrousel spitting content at you. It’ll continue to do just that. Click on any of the articles in there – either the picture or the text to the right – and experience the Man Repeller you already know.
Second, you’ll notice our new flyout, which is pretty much even cooler than it sounds. When you hover over “Main Posts” from the top nav bar, a magical drop-down-fly-out action will happen so you can see recent posts in the menu categories. Sift through via arrows at the top of the flyout, or go straight to the meat. The rest of the menu should look familiar, with the exception of that little tab that says “Minor Cogitations.” Minor Cogitations asks the really hard hitting questions. See: this.
Continuing down the homepage, you’ll find two new boxes just below the carrousel. The first reads, “Best of The Internet.” When you click one of the three boxes, you’ll find a short blurb about a news story or sale scores or any number of cool things that we’ve deemed highly worth sharing. Next to Best of The Internet, you’ll find Manstagram, now including photo and video because the fun don’t stop at stills.
Just below that, the feed will resume, now featuring a sort function which will make navigating old content super duper mcnuper easy! Hooray! Simplicity! Utility! Bartleby! Humanity!
At the bottom of each page, an archive will be staring you in the face. If you click Open Full Archive, you will be greeted by a big fat calendar, chronicling all published content for your searching pleasure.
This took like, five months to execute so even if you hate it, just lie and say NIFTY! Kidding. Totally kidding. Feedback is always welcome. We hope you’re excited though. We’re pretty much peeing our pants.
