Because we’re in the 23rd hour on a Wednesday afternoon and it’s finally 90 degrees.
I’ve sensed a chicken or egg thing happening in the last several months pertaining to Instagram’s popular Throwback Thursday and the general predilection that the internet seems to be conveying in conjunction with anything that seems “old school.” But is the phenomenon the result of #TBT, or was #TBT a reactionary hash-tag implemented to expound on the popularity of exploiting that which the royal we render “retro?”
I hope you’re not waiting for an answer because I’ve got nothing. What I do have, however, is a daily diversion in the form of a new illustration-cum-fashion blog, called When They Were Kids. The site is reflecting on the past in a pretty original way, citing and drawing some of our favorite fashion personalities and the more ubiquitous legends (see: Marc Jacobs, Grace Coddington, Anna Wintour, Karl Lagerfeld) as children. The site’s byline reads, “Have you ever wondered what the big names in fashion were like when they were just kids?”
Well, you need not wonder any longer. Flip through the slideshow above or head over to the site and take a gander at the anonymous illustrator’s animated suppositions.
Personally, I’d love to know what Anna dello Russo was doing (wearing) before she could strut in mega-heels. You? Happy Wednesday!
