On OTK Boots

Considering the unseasonably–or is this normal for March?–good weather we’ve had this week it’s probably not the smartest that I pollute your minds with the harsh perils of winter coats, fur, hats and boots but regardless, I will do it because it’s not actually pollution. Mother Nature has very clearly taken a turn for the bi-polar and so it’s in our best interest to make sure we’re ready to handle whatever curve ball the depleting o-zone layer throws our way. Today, a look at the over-the-knee boot followed by a question that wonders if they’re back and whether they ever left?

Photographered here, Russian trendsetters Anya Ziourova and Miroslava Duma, and when you note the likes of these two, it evokes an immediate yes, cool, they’re awesome, in, break me off a piece of that. But then you consider a movie favorite and think a certain bob-trotting Julia Roberts getting offensively dismissed from fancy LA boutique and what have you. In terms of man repelling, is this a trend we look to and embrace? Why not. You’ve seen the series Man Getter to Repeller and shown above here while Duma may perhaps exude a certain rawr effect, Ziourova is most certainly doing her best to stay on trend, effortless, enticing to the female. And what’s best, she’s standing next to a bike, bonus points for commitment.

Here you have me. You may remember it from BRB, in a GIFfy. Before this goes too far, I have to admit I’ve failed you. I’m not walking anywhere. I’m only standing against this wall for the sake of this photo and I’m looking off into an abyss of nothing. In one instant, I’ve fulfilled the most prevalent blogger stereotypes that exist. Sorry I’m not sorry, there’s a shark eating at my nipple.

Down to business: water and vagina proof plastic skirt, check. Sequined shark, check. Red lips, check. Over the knee boots, check. The heel is short, they’re suede, it’s an easy way to feed an appetite for boots this high without venturing into hooker territory. And what about this reads propeller? Virtually nothing, except some exposed thigh that when brought close to is perhaps more man repelling than whatever else is shown. I don’t have a penchant for razors.

Finally, behold, it’s like looking into a mirror that shows your reflection forty-five years later. Sunglasses by Ralph Lauren, sweater by Markus Lupfer, skirt by Laquan Smith and boots by Chanel.
