Not just sunglasses that look like goggles that look like sunglasses that are in fact, an FDA approved method of birth control a la Linda Farrow, but divine varsity jackets to take the afore-appreciated trend further and plays on kaleidoscopic prints, complimented perfectly by some o'that good old thick satin and alas, another salute to tweed this time infused but some metallica in the fashion sense of that word. I humbly predict Prabal Gurung will one day soon be the absolute most relevant designer in fashion.
Rochas produces a really well hued green anorak alongside a cape coat whose silhouette is the perfect combination of sack and box, box and sack, to overall prove for but one more season that Clueless and Cher Horowitz are still muy importante. Cue the shin high socks. It's also just fun to get into character and say things like "Dee, I'm buggin."
Nina Ricci, oh Nina. I know what you're thinking: so feminine--so true but think of this mathematically: Nina equals ruffles, ruffles equal vaginas, vaginas equal couture, couture equals man repelling. And so by the transitive property of fashematics: Nina equals man repelling. Note the details: goat-hair rimmed cape alongside printed pants, bow adorned shoes, flimsy fabrics that still render rich and a chunky turtleneck that will put this old post to shame.
And finally: Stella McCartney. In the look at left, I appreciate the combination of blazer, blouse and pant all collectively throwing up crests. It's like the primary school logo you wish never existed all the sudden back to fulfill dreams you didn't know you had. And at right, note the continuation of sweatpants as formal wear manifesting. Another look from this collection suggests that the onesie as formal wear will continue to manifest too.
All in all, repellers, looks like we have a season o'fun afront. It's probably not smart to end a post with a fake word so here's a real one.

I love the green coat!
ReplyDeletelove it! so edgy
ReplyDeleteThose Givenchy boots are so funny... Leg log is right, what an odd silhouette. Love both the Rochas jackets, such amazing cuts in such good colors!

We'll agree that the Givenchy boot silhouette is 'odd', but coupled with the shortness of the garments themselves, we're strangely drawn to it. We're kinda feeling like the initial response to gladiator sandals (when they first making appearances years ago) was a similar "so-wrong-its-right" feeling and now we all have AT LEAST one pair- summer staples. Not disagreeing, just playing the opposite side of the coin.

you kill me! as in that peeing when you're laughing when you're tickled kind of way. Such purpose, such perspective! To be frank I was a bit concerned with the pink dress appearance the other day, so it's a relief to know you're stickin' to your roots! well done leandra!!!!

It is funny this new Givenchy Collection. I remember when they launched it internally at the showroom in Paris, my friend working there was describing it like: "I don't know Clemence, there is some big pitbulls on it and it is quite dark, it is very odd".
ReplyDeleteSo I pictured a "punk attitude"! But actually it looks extremely feminine with these beautiful fabrics and the right accessories like these very long gloves. I love the look of it!!

We love some of the coats!!
ReplyDeletei always loved Givenchy
ReplyDeleteAre we already in autumn? What? We haven't left winter yet here! I'm confused how you can wear autumn clothes in summer and summer clothes in winter to be ahead of the curve? Surely its just totally un-practical?
ReplyDelete(btw, I'm from the Scottish Highlands therefore anything short of wellies and a waterproof seems totally un-practical! Ahh I dream of pavements that won't wreck my heels and no puddles to stain my suede!)

Stella McCartney's line is kind of disappointing this time around, but the other three are amazing and offer layering opportunities galore!! :)

i can't stop laughing. You r so right in your judgment. I wish the fashion sphere was as iroonical as you
ReplyDeletePRABAL GURUNG the best pre-fall show...I adore the entire half! But the the end of the show and the satin dresses!? I din't get it...
ReplyDeleteWhere can you buy the Givenchy boots??
ReplyDeleteLove the Nina Ricci skirt and navy cape jacket! I also love the platform heels she put out for the spring 2012 collection. We matched them with MON MODE handbag hangers in our new blog here: http://monmodeblog.tumblr.com/

I need these Givenchy boots and gloves STAT. Seriously...
ReplyDeletewww.tiffanyphipps.blogspot.com
Love that mustard yellow cloak and Givenchy's motorcycle chic looks. Those tees are fantastic but I am afraid to see how much they cost considering the worn down Balmain white tee from a few seasons back was going for around a $1000.
